Fly on the wall

Custom wallpaper manufacturer Mr Perswall in Sweden have one of my images of Gripen in their collection, and it's now in place #2 in the top-30 ordered wallpapers. Mean!

And a little puzzling, considering it's above the usual suspects like the Eiffel tower, stones in water, American skyscrapers, yellow cabs, and the ever-classic birch forest :-)

I guess people are more fascinated and impressed by fighters than yellow cabs and trees. And so they should be!

Maybe it's about your stunning photograph? Having worked for years in the arms industry, I am thoroughly disillusioned by things military but your photographs of aircraft are photographically such superb examples of form, lighting and composition that I have spent hours working through your portfolio. Thank you for sharing it.
(I still cannot imagine having a whole walled papered with a Grippen!)

I'm flattered Lawrence, much thanks. What military stuff do you work with?

I also have a hard time thinking about a Gripen on a wall in my home. Maybe kids would find it cool. Don't know.

There's more high-resolution version of the the portfolio coming up soon (again), within days, if you'd like to look closer.

Cheers /Peter

Lawrence,

The large slideshows are live, again – now working better. Found here:

I'm not the least surprised that one of your fighter-planes-or-pilots-backlit-against-fog(?) pictures has made it to a top spot on that site. In fact, I'm surprised that not all of the top spots are covered by them! :-)

Those shots, above most others I've found in your impressive portfolio, to me are examples of perfect photography and design, and the exotic and powerful subjects make them all the more appealing.

(In case you'd like to know how I've come across your blog: strobist.)

CR,

Thanks :-) Actually, it's not fog, but natural backlight from a hangar opening, given a little help in post to make it completely white.

Yeah, Strobist gives a lot of traffic; nice with the international flavor of people.
